An accredited Traffic Offender Intervention Program for your client.

Tailored for legal professionals seeking comprehensive solutions for their clients involved in traffic offences.

ABOUT THE

Traffic Offender Intervention Program

Our Traffic Offender Intervention Program (TOIP) is a specialised initiative focusing on promoting safe road use and fostering responsible driving conduct. The sessions are designed to increase awareness of the consequences of dangerous driving practices and are intended to reduce the likelihood of re-offending. Our TOIP combines a cognitive behavioural approach with reality-based learning.

At Road Sense Australia, TOIP is divided into 10 modules covering a variety of different subjects. The program provides an opportunity for driver offenders to gain a comprehensive understanding of road rules, appreciate the consequences of risky driving, and encourages a positive shift in driving behaviour.

Our TOIP program costs $185 to complete. As a not-for-profit, all of our proceeds go back into the community to fund driver education programs for the most vulnerable and the underprivileged.

POST-PROGRAM

What is the follow-up procedure?

Upon successful completion of the Traffic Offender Intervention Program (TOIP), our team will initiate communication with the Court on behalf of your client, facilitating the TOIP referral process. We will send the TOIP completion certificate in 1-2 business days via email to both you, as the lawyer, and your client and the Court.

It’s important to note that, regrettably, the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) does not accept electronic copies of certificates. Therefore, in cases where reporting to the RMS is necessary as part of the TOIP referral, and your client has opted for the online TOIP program, we will dispatch the certificate via post to ensure compliance with RMS requirements.

Rest assured, our commitment is to streamline the post-TOIP process, ensuring that all necessary documentation reaches the relevant parties efficiently and in accordance with regulatory standards.

ABOUT THE

Legal Compliance

A provider of Traffic Offender Intervention Programs (TOIP) cannot guarantee a reduced sentence merely based on completing their driver offender course. Various factors influence sentencing outcomes, and it is important to recognize the complexities involved:

  • Driving History: Your client’s past driving record significantly influences the sentencing decision.
  • Circumstances of the Offense: The specific details surrounding the offence play a crucial role in determining the outcome.
  • Attitude Towards Law Enforcement: Your client’s demeanor and cooperation with law enforcement contribute to the overall evaluation.
  • Conduct in Court: Your client’s behaviour and presentation during court proceedings can impact the magistrate’s decision.
  • Learning from TOIP: While completing TOIP is beneficial, its influence on sentencing is subject to the individual’s demonstrated learning and understanding.
  • While TOIP completion is a positive step, it is vital to recognise that only the magistrate has the authority to determine the sentence. Nevertheless, there are proactive measures to strengthen your case.
